Ruli and I were driving south, about 11 years ago, and we heard an interview with Christopher Buckley, who was promoting his then-new book "Thank you for Smoking."
In the interview, Buckley talked about the difficulty of doing political satire, because reality moved so fast - by the time you got around to satirizing something, something far worse was already happening. The Goddamn Federal Way school district made me think of that today.
I just can't quite believe this story, 'cause it's so Goddamn bad. On the one hand, you've got the imbecilic dumb-assery of "Frosty Hardison" creationist and father of seven (!). And on the other hand, you have the Federal Way School Board's sad performance - they displayed all the moral courage of a white-tail deer.
And for bonus points, you've got some attorney doublespeak, suggesting that banning a form of speech actually encourages debate.
